We have no idea whether your computer is capable of IEEE 1394 (FireWire or iLink) but you can tell. Windows XP SP3 is compatible with IEEE1394. Go to: http://en.wikipedia.o rg/wiki/Firewire_port and look on the right side of the screen that shows. You will see the two diagrams for FireWire ports with 6 connector being the most common on Desktop computers and 4 connector for Laptops. Do not confuse these ports with USB ports which are rectangular as shown here:http://en.wiki pedia.org/wiki/Universal_Serial_Bus Left side about 1/4 way down.
